Terms of Service

Overview

WordTrunk is a language-learning service run by WordTrunk Ltd, a company registered in Scotland. By using it you agree to these terms. Our privacy policy explains what we do with your data.

Beta

WordTrunk is in beta: it works, but it is still changing, and some things will break or be redesigned. It is free while it is in beta. Some features may later become part of a paid plan. If something you use is going to stop being free, we will email you before it happens, and you will never be charged unless you choose to pay. We back up our database every day, and you can export your vocabulary to a file at any time from Vocabulary → Share.

Your account

You must be at least 16 to create an account. Your account is for you alone. Keep your login details secure, and tell us at support@wordtrunk.com if you think someone else has used it.

Your content

You retain ownership of the vocabulary you enter. Do not upload content you are not allowed to use. We do not claim any rights over your word sets or translations.

Acceptable use

Use WordTrunk for your own language learning. Do not try to reach other people's data, get round security controls or usage limits, create accounts automatically, copy content out of the service in bulk, or use WordTrunk in a way that could harm it or other people.

Closing an account

You can close your account at any time by emailing support@wordtrunk.com; the privacy policy explains how deletion works. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk. Where we can, we will tell you why first and give you the chance to export your vocabulary.

No guarantees

We work to keep WordTrunk accurate and available, but during beta we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors, or that every sentence, translation, definition or recording is correct. It is provided as it is. Nothing in these terms affects your rights under consumer law.

Liability

As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for loss we could not reasonably foresee, or for business losses: WordTrunk is for personal use. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

Changes to these terms

We will update WordTrunk and these terms as it develops. We will email you about significant changes before they take effect. If you keep using WordTrunk after that, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, you can close your account.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you also keep the protection of the law where you live and can bring a claim in your local courts.
